The department has about 35 academic members of staff who teach a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses and do research in a number of areas in pure mathematics, statistics, quantum dynamics and information security.
We have about 350 undergraduate students, 120 taught postgraduates and 50 PhD researchers.
The Mathematics Department is in the McCrea Building (named after Professor Sir William McCrea, FRS, Head of Mathematics, 1944-1966).
