Why study mathematics at university?
Mathematics is intrinsically beautiful and can be studied for its own sake. It is also the central tool in the physical and natural sciences and increasingly in the social sciences, economics, management, IT and elsewhere. It provides an excellent foundation from which you can move to a wide variety of jobs, either directly or after further study.
