Michael Walker (ISG) awarded an OBE

Professor Walker, a part-time professor at Royal Holloway and the Vodafone Chair in Telecommunications, was awarded an OBE for services to the telecommunications industry.

19/06/09 Exploring Mathematics

The Department of Mathematics held its annual ‘Exploring Mathematics’ conference for A Level students on 19 June. Building on the success of last year’s event, the 2009 conference attracted over 140 students from a range of schools, with many further applications received for places on the oversubscribed day.

New study finds flaw with internet security

A new study has revealed a security flaw within the network protocol SSH which could allow attackers to access sensitive data even though it is encrypted using state-of-the-art techniques. Professor Kenny Paterson, of the world renowned Information Security Group (ISG) at Royal Holloway, University of London, will present the findings at the leading annual security conference, the IEEE Symposium on Security and Privacy in California, USA, on 18 May 2009.
