The symmetric group: representations and combinatorics
The representation theory of the symmetric group is an active area of research that sees an appealing interplay between algebra and combinatorics. On the 29 March 2011 a one-day meeting was held at Royal Holloway to bring together people working in this area and other interested non-specialists.
The speakers and talk titles were as follows:
| 1 pm — 2 pm | Mark Wildon | A tour of Foulkes' Conjecture |
| 2.30 pm — 3.30 pm | Matthew Fayers | s-cores and t-cores |
| 4.15 pm — 5.15 pm | Christine Bessenrodt | Revisiting the hook formula — relative degrees and hook separation |
The meeting was supported by an LMS grant under scheme 1.
